Q: Where'd you get that cool Japanese font? Can I have it?
A: My friend Mena gave it to me. And, yes, now you too can possess the kanji font simply by going to the fonts section!

Q: Does the Japanese font work? Can I type something in English and have it translated to Japanese?
No. The Japanese font is just a bunch of random characters. For example, when you type the number '9' it doesn't give you the character for nine, but the character for 'sea.' So, no, you can't type in English and have it translated to Japanese. Since kanji isn't phonetic, it wouldn't work that way anyway.

Q: What do all of the symbols in the Japanese font mean?:
A: Uuuh...I only know a few kanji, so I can't tell you what they all mean. They're basically various kanji with no outstanding theme or anything. There's the four seasons, the elements, "sun," "moon," "heaven," "big" and "small," "heart," "people," "come," "meet," "self," "middle," and "love"...among others. As I said, I don't know them all. If I ever take the time to translate all of them, I'll post a character map with their translations.

Q: I can't get the font(s) to install. What's the problem and how can I fix it?
A: First of all, I only have Windows true type fonts available. So if you have a Mac they won't work.
After you have downloaded the ZIP file, extract the font to c:\windows\fonts\. If it doesn't work after that, all I can tell you is to refresh the program your were trying to use the font in (close & open it, or restart your computer) or to go in to the c:\windows\fonts\ folder and manually refresh it. These are the only ways I know to fix stubborn fonts after installation. It could be that I haven't zipped the font correctly, but I doubt that is the case.

Q: Will you make me an animated button/blinkie?
A: No. Blinkies take much more time and effort to create. I just don't have the time to handle those types of requests.

Q: I downloaded a layout and it turned out to be pieces. How do I put these pieces together?
A: You must upload all of the pieces of the layout--pictures, HTML documents, class file, and anything else to the same directory in your server. Then, if you access your main HTML file, everything should work fine + dandy.
For version 1 readme.txt files...Follow the instructions in the README.TXT file. Upload all of the files (unzipped) to your CGI bin. Then edit the HTML file so that all of the http://SOURCE_HERE/ tags read the source of your images. So if you uploaded all of your files to http://www.myanime.com/site/ change SOURCE_HERE to www.myanime.com/site.

Q: What imaging program do you use?
A: Any layout made prior to June 2002 was made with the proggie that came with my okay scanner (ScanMakerX6) called PhotoImpact from Ulead. But I now have Adobe Photoshop 7, and make all of my layouts with that.

Q: Will you do custom artwork for my domain name site?
A: It depends. E-mail me for further details.

Q: How do you make your layouts look so cool?
A: Uhh...kind of a vague question, but I get it a lot. Talent, I guess!

Q: What do I need to get started on making my own layout?
A: Hmm. All you really need to buy (if you don't already have it) is a good imaging program (like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro or something). Then, obtain a basic knowledge of HTML--specifically tables--and possibly CSS scripting. Find some good base images for your layout and have at it!

Q: I want to use the HTML code for a layout you made, but change the images. Is that okay?
A: Yes, it's find with me. But remember that you must still link me! However, instead of putting the generic phrase, "This layout was made for me by Umi Kuni Layouts," below your button, put, "This layout was modified from one found at Umi Kuni Layouts."

Q: Can you tell me how to make tables/make frames/change font colors/etc.?:
A: Go to the links section for HTML tutorial sites.

Q: How do you and your friend make such good backgrounds?
A: Eunju and I don't make a lot of backgrounds...we usually just use solid colors. Most respectable imaging programs have background generators. If you want to make a bg, get a proggie. Keep in mind that backgrounds don't look good in all layouts. If you do have a background on your page, don't put text directly on it, as that may make it hard to read. Put your text on a solid-colored table and the table on the background.

Q: My site is not anime-related. Can I use your graphics on it anyway?
A: Sure! You may certainly use my graphics on any site that you like (as long as it's not hentai/adult.) Just remember to link me.

Q: If I use more than one thing from your site, do I have to link to you more than once?
A: The policy of my site is that if you use any image-related thing from my website, (that exlcudes fonts) you must link to my site. Go to the link me page and select a button you like the best. Beneath it is a HTML code. Copy that code and put it somewhere on your website. If you use more than one image, it is not necessary to link to my page more than once.

Q: I have a GeoCities site. Can you tell me how to upload files?
GeoCities is VERY easy to use. From the File Manager, click "Upload Files" in the upper right-hand corner. Then click browse and find the file on your computer that you want to upload and click upload. That's it. Nonplussed? Go to the links section for HTML help sites.

Q: What is your favorite anime/manga?
A: Aa! That's a tough question! Probably Gundam W, I guess. I'm bishounen-obssessed. I also like Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres, Slayers, Shoujo Kakumei Utena, and Inu-Yasha a lot. Althogh Love Hina is just a little too ecchi for me, I love the artwork from it!
